Just had it pointed out to me that even though most of the most recent WandaVision is obviously riffing on Malcom in the Middle, the core idea of the opening titles (a single long shot from the POV of someone holding a camcorder) is a tribute to the original opening titles of ALF

After Seinfeld and Friends all the new shows getting greenlit were about a clique of roommates in their 20s in NY and the family sitcoms were getting rapidly picked off The TGIF block was like a sole surviving stalwart

I suppose 90s era family sitcoms were mostly deliberately subversive. It would be hard to map the formula to Roseanne or Blossom.

I think if it's also riffing on 90s nostalgia and syndication- 90s sitcoms fit that Full House formula - Family Matters and Boy Meets World. That said, it feels a lot like TV Land.
