Scott has written many thousands of words criticizing NRx too, but the piece is about Scott, not NRx

He's also written plenty suggesting NRx has some good points. And his criticism focuses on small-scale points while validating the big picture. Suggesting he's not dangerously NRx-curious and that he hasn't legitimized their claims is disingenuous sophistry.

Scott identifies NRx as against democracy, human rights, multiculturalism, and secularism in the opening of the FAQ, and he identifies himself with these exact values and ideologies throughout SSC. So no, he isn't "NRx curious" in any meaningful way. Talk about disingenuous.pic.twitter.com/dEnoeZhodV

Lol the NRxers fucking love the guy because "he's the only one of our opponents who gives us a fair hearing and debates us on our terms" (Never be this guy)

Everybody loves liberals who will give them a fair hearing. So much so that, historically, liberalism tends to become the hegemonic ideology over time. Isn't that interesting?https://slatestarcodex.com/2014/02/23/in-favor-of-niceness-community-and-civilization/ …

"Nice" principles like nonviolence, charity to opponents, and a deep public respect for truth *work*. And they work in *much more extreme situations* than we are faced with today.pic.twitter.com/my47k7xXdh

Liberalism in its naive form led directly to fascism and to the Holocaust my dude

Fascism is just "liberalism in its final failure state" (when push comes to shove and the contradictions within society are no longer supportable, the liberal ends up defaulting to violence in favor of those who already hold power, because what they fear most is radical change)

You can directly observe this in how the "classical liberals" of Scott's ilk are so much more naturally comfortable and feel so much safer around literal actual Nazis than "cancel culture" SJWs

Where I'm somewhat lost in this is like - is SSC a mainstream, popular website with ordinary stuff going on, or a unique place where they discuss ideas so dangerous, you could lose your job.

The whole point is to use the "normal, apolitical science" stuff as camouflage for the "forbidden ideas" He lays out the strategy in detail in "Kolmogorov Complicity"https://slatestarcodex.com/2017/10/23/kolmogorov-complicity-and-the-parable-of-lightning/ …
