The thing is this really is saying something Like I don't want to give the mainstream critic community too much credit here You absolutely could make a movie today that draws on offensive stereotypes about autistic people and still gets lots of praise and wins awards

The positive reviews are either the really milquetoast "this movie has good musical sequences" type or the "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was a classic story of a child with autism" type. Either grasping at straws or really shitty taste.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (who picks Golden Globes nominations) has a long history of being bigoted in a lot of respects (nominates POC less often than the Oscars and Emmys, nominates Women in non-gender segregated categories less often), so ablism is not surprising
