Christ you're the guy who tried to tell me LBJ was less racist than Joe Biden because the 1994 crime bill was the most racist thing that ever happened in history Who the fuck are you to tell me about American history

Youre the guy trying to say the author of the crime bill is an ally in the fight against systemic racism. You're too full of venom for this discussion to go anywhere but it won't take long for activists who actually care about systemic racism to see Dems arent solid allies

I never said that, I said that it was a good thing Biden won the election, much as LBJ was a far more virulent and vicious racist than Biden but MLK thought it was a good thing LBJ won the election

It's a real mystery that these people never acknowledge the alternative to electing Biden in the general election. Oh wait, it's really not.

There is this really weird dichotomy lots of people seem to be operating under that either you love Biden or you wish he lost. I think Biden is a shit and I still want him to have won. I put effort into it, although nowhere near what MLK did.

You look at what was going on during the civil rights era, they were forever putting massive effort into electing the shitty option who they could get *more* progress with. "Both of these guys suck, but one we can get more of our goals accomplished with."

If you're saying crm activists had the same balance of electoral vs extra parliamentary political outlook as cancel culture proponents today, that's wrong. Crm was not primarily a partisan movement. The idea that all Reps are white supremacists, for ex, was not a big crm idea

Perhaps that's because the Republican Party has in fact materially changed, significantly, in the big political realignment following the Civil Rights Act in 1964

MLK broke his own rule of getting directly involved in electoral politics because he feared the political tendency he felt Barry Goldwater represented so deeply Do you think the Republicans have become more or less openly reactionary since then
