Far be it from me to say what he believes (esp if he’s spoken publicly on it), but his exploration of worship/fallenness/god in Ultron (“in the center”) is anything but a 1st attempt at those ideas. He may be an atheist, but he has an intimate understanding of the faith dilemma.

And the harassment over symbols of her faith smacks of projection, which is a huge theme in evangelicalism (and on a larger scale, conservative politics)... denying others the thing you’ve refused to process for yourself. It’s a huge topic but the fringes overlap. I’m curious.
