I feel like this is why we're seeing such a roguelike renaissance Games stay interesting the harder you can make it for players to "solve" the game and find a boring optimal strategy to use all the time

I've wondered for years why there are no notable online shooters/whatever with procedurally generated levels (or curated batches of same). And have never come up with a more plausible reason than "nerds like memorising maps and optimal paths more than actual innovation"
