It's notable that Agnes gets demoted to a background character when Geraldine/Monica shows up and steals the "sitcom antagonist" role from her Including the extended sequence in Ep 3 of Wanda concealing her pregnancy from Geraldine

Then as soon as Monica is expelled, Agnes pops right back up into the main cast

Ah, but she's not really sitcom antagonist anymore...which Vision take a bit to catch on to, he's still assumingshe is. I think she moved herself out, leaving a vacuum for Geraldine to get sucked into the role.

And then, in the 80s, we...can kinda do without one. I mean, Three's company had one, but I feel they were sorta on their way out and not taken as seriously anymore.

At some point, it might be next episode, we're appearing to transition into superhero dramedy, like 'The Flash' in the 90s...or maybe more CWy, like Buffy. And I think Agnes is firmly positioning herself as Secret Keeper.

I don’t get that impression, but I don’t know what’s going to happen when they run out of decades to mimic sitcoms from. The 90s had a few sitcoms that mimicked the Bewitched model of keeping powers secret but the only one I can recall taking off is Sabrina the teenage witch

It seems like it would work with the show’s premise really well but simultaneously clash with its themes too much to be workable, Wanda is always the star of these shows so suddenly making her and Agnes into Hilda and Zelda respectively (with Vision as Salem?) to her sons is off

I think you're translating the sitcom homages a bit too literally? While there were half a dozen teen fantasy sitcoms (You forgot You Wish, Teen Angel, and Aliens in the Family, and those were all just on TGIF. ;), there were adult ones too.

I...admittedly can't think of what those show were, though. Sci-fi and fantasy took a hard dramatic turn in the 90s, where previously it had been relegated to only sitcoms. ALF was in the 90s, barely.

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show was in the 90s, also Gah. What a complete dearth of adcult genre sitcoms. I am completely baffled as to where they are going, which why I think they might pivot to light-hearted drama. But I could be wrong.

Family Matters was totally a genre show by the time it ended
