It was very easy to resent America by thinking of America as the imaginary paradise advertised by Americans' comfort food TV And he said when he came to live here it genuinely rocked his worldview to see how huge the gap between fantasy and reality was

This is doubly true if we consider the catalyst for Wanda's emotional breakdown. She has lost so much in the last few years in a pursuit of altruism. Her brother died saving Clint. She was imprisoned for helping Cap. She lost Vision trying to stop Thanos.

Now she is pursuing what she wants, who cares about the casualties. She is fully embracing selfishness because altruism costs her everything. what better symbol of selfishness than the simple decadence of problem free sitcoms created by an exploitative capitalist engine?
