"This isn't time for superficial thought-stopping garbage like "Jews do not cause anti-Semites." " No, i think it's exactly time for historically informed rational thought, C James. Saying "it's not time to think" is a hilariously foolish rhetorical strategy.

He never said "it's not time to think" he called it thought STOPPING garbage as in the phrase in question is a simple hand wave without substance. He brings a good point up. Refusing to acknowledge the reasonable cause and effect just because it might offend someone is a problem.

I've thought about the idea that "Jews provoke antisemitism by being too left-wing" plenty of times in the past, considering that it was a common refrain among "moderates" in Germany in the run-up to WWII The conclusion of my thinking is it's evil garbage

THe Lindsay "Its not the JEWISH, it's the WOKE" -- to which my response was basically: "'Jews I DISLIKE anti-semitism, the others are Good Jews' is not the defense you think it is." A Black friend pointed out that 'woke' here implied n*-lover, which tracked

In fact it's a very specific idea of separating "Good Jews" from "Bad Jews", one with a pedigree The root of antisemitism as an ideology is painting Jews as "rootless cosmopolitans", a permanent minority who undermine ethnonationalism by their presence

It's therefore no mystery at all how Trumpists can be raving, frothing antisemites in domestic policy and yet piously support Israel and Zionism in foreign policy They're ethnonationalists, "good Jews" are Jews who buy into ethnat ideology and fuck off to "their own country"

They believe that "civilization" depends on ethnically and culturally homogenous nation-states, and that Jewish people become acceptable if they shed their diasporic Jewishness and become "normal people" in a "normal country" by setting up a nation-state of their own

What kind of country this country becomes -- and whether this country has realistic hopes of long-term survival -- is not their problem, in their view, at least not right now They just want all the troublesome minorities in their own country OUT, by any means necessary

"Everyone should have 'their own' country that's a homogeneous population of 'their own' ethnicity Then the different countries can play the Great Game and the fittest survive That's what God intended" It's an openly anti-internationalist anti-cosmopolitan worldview

So if they have to pick they naturally pick Zionism over Bundism, its closest historical competitor, and the explicitly left-wing, internationalist, anti-borders, pro-diaspora vision of Jewish identity

It's that idea that Jews have the right to exist HERE, in Germany or England or America, and to be fully German or English or American AND ALSO JEWISH, and by so existing to create a "hidden link" between this country and other countries that have Jewish minorities in them

They fucking hate that It's what all their conspiracy bullshit is based on They invent lurid ideas about kidnapping children and plotting assassinations and whatnot to justify it But the idea itself, of "undermining national borders", is in and of itself a great sin to them
