Uh spaying a cat that's currently pregnant literally is a "cat abortion" and all the cat people I know are in favor of it https://twitter.com/KeenanPeachy/status/1357401440008962050 …

For that matter, lots of people love rats and take them home with them.
-
To be clear, I say this as someone who adores cats and could probably be fond of a rat, given half a chance.

(A real rat lover would actually sit down at this point and talk about how rats are clearly smarter and more social creatures than cats and that they're much closer to the roots of the human evolutionary tree than cats)
-
(Our love affair with cats is this perversity where now that we're the big dominant apex species we've fallen in love with tiny versions of the predatory carnivores that used to stalk and kill our ancestors)

I traveled to Cyprus on an archaeological trip in 2018, and the island is crawling with feral cats. Unfortunately they've so infiltrated the ecosystem (I mean, these cats were introduced by the Pharaonic Egyptians) that if you cull them the viper population explodes.
-
It's very sad and unhygienic: sit outside and you'll soon be swarmed by mangy flea-infested scrawny cats begging for food. (And let's not talk about how Cypriots treat dogs except to say give here, please http://dogrescuecyprus.com/about/ Black dogs are considered "unlucky" and abandoned.)
