Projecting these human values of "dignity" and shit onto an animal that, like most animals, does not think about these things or think at all and just eats and fucks and runs around You think a buck a hunter wounds and then loses and is then maimed gives a shit about that
-
You see a doe running around in blind panicking agony because some weak-ass bow hunter managed to put an arrow into its eye that didn't penetrate into its brain You think it's, like, taking pride in being a "survivor" and "continuing to fight on" and other stories humans tell

especially since, how is it really a "fighting chance" when you have a human with a rifle pirched in a tree-top waiting patiently from a birds-eye view, completely out of sight from the deer. What strategy can the Deer use to save itself?
-
Survival of the fittest.

If you live out in the sticks, when you refuse to spay & neuter your cats you're mostly just guaranteeing food for the coyotes.

I mean, I live out in the sticks. You know what happens when you let wild cats loose? They find your neighbor's cats and harass them over territory, often getting into fights. I don't want my cats to get hurt because someone else was neglectful

Lead shot and bullet fragments are just great when they start moving up the scavenger/predator food chain too.

Like the big reason we do this I think is that unlike cats deer have a lot of meat and are pretty tasty

I don’t hunt. And don’t care if anyone does. But cats aren’t food (at least not in my culture) Little bit of a difference there.
