Uh spaying a cat that's currently pregnant literally is a "cat abortion" and all the cat people I know are in favor of it https://twitter.com/KeenanPeachy/status/1357401440008962050 …

ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY. I worked in a feral cat colony one time. Coworkers kept giving me orphan kittens because I could keep them alive. I did fourteen kittens and we only lost two. It was pure hell for everyone, including the cats.

It took me TWO YEARS to recover my "OOOH KITTEN" reaction, and I still recoil from bottles and kitten replacement milk. Fix your fucking cats, absolutely abort, and adopt from a shelter or a very good fosterer. Nothing is more miserable than a kitten in a feral colony.

Our two were rescued as newborns with mom from a feral colony... they were litter trained by three weeks and are overall wicked clever, and are absolutely beautiful. Don't buy into the myth that breeders have some magic touch!

My last four "Keeper" cats were all feral rescues. The first one was my heart cat. Wicked smart and feisty. Our big black cat is just as smart, but a little bit of a chicken. The calico has the temperament of a golden retriever.

But there was one black feral who made it to four months before an undetected birth defect took him from us. He was a very good kitty too. It was rare enough that even our vet agreed it was the product of inbreeding. He was from the same gene pool as our current two.

It's the biggest reason I totally agree with TnR programs and feral kitty abortions. Nobody fought harder than he did, nobody suffered more than he did, and it wouldn't have happened if somebody had ever cared enough to get the adults in that colony fixed.

Jesus fucking Christ Did your TnR program really seek out pregnant cats to give them abortions? I’ve been a volunteer for years - and we have never done that. Oof.

I don't know how you think cats work but as mammals with an estrus cycle it's not the same as human pregnancy If you continue to practice TnR during cat mating season then the percentage of cats you get will are pregnant will be very high

Been doing it a decent enough time to never have witnessed a person asking us to abort their cat.

Because spaying a cat before it reaches its age of first estrus is considered the responsible thing to do nowadays, yes
