The golden era people like this are talking about doesn't exist if you go back in time, not even if you go all the way back to FDR, when the South was packed with Democrats who were single-issue voters on the topic of maintaining Jim Crow

If dems want to expand their majority, they should look at Sherrod Brown. Even in red Ohio, he’s remained popular, but look at who is bowing out (Portman).

Brown was running against a weak opponent in a D+8 cycle in 2018. Sadly, Ohio has been tilting hard right since Trump, and I have to assume that Brown's gonna be heavily targeted in 2024. In similar once bellwether places like Indiana or Missouri, even popular Ds have trouble.
