I feel like, at some point, we are going to have to reckon with the fact that basically every trans person who is regarded as "notable" is somebody who was "notable" and then came out as trans Coming out as trans certainly seems to preclude the accumulation of "notability"

The one exception I can think of offhand is Laverne Cox who broke into acting by embodying cis white people's stereotypes of Black trans sex workers back when those were the only roles trans people ever saw

Lol she was famous way before Sense8, to the point that her acting in it was seen by some people as stunt casting All through the 2000s she was known by the Internet as the hottest trans girl

It was because of this viral news article on "The Second Most Beautiful Girl in New York", when NY Magazine listed her as their #2 for that year and then salaciously told everyone she was trans and had the Surgery

She was totally an early example of trans notoriety in a way that we would now find to be exploitative and gross but that she successfully parlayed into a career
