Probably the best mainstream entry in this genre was the Southern Reach Trilogy, whose first entry was adapted as the movie Arrival

but...why do you think it's doing that? there was not much surreal or horrific about this episode.

The moment when the tether came back up with the end changed to a child's jump rope felt fairly surreal to me, as did seeing the change to the beekeeper suit. The only thing we really learned in terms of exposition via "normal" MCU is just how little we actually know.
