It's not really a "take" though, the show is literally about Wanda pushing people out of her life for reminding her of literal MCU canon bc it's too traumatic and creating an AU she is desperate to keep free of violence and conflict

For a lot of kids in other countries - possibly *especially* kids in other countries that don't have much of a media industry of their own - this fake version of America was hyperreal, more real than the world around them This context-free dream of how life is supposed to be

As a kid raised by TV I instantly got what they were going for here "TV land" as this world stripped of context - all the real world references too distant from you in time or space to really understand - with different decades smushed together into this weird stew

But Wanda wasn’t raised in London, she was raised in the post-Soviet bloc in the late nineties/early aughts. She would have watched How I Met Your Mother and Avatar the Last Airbender. Probably Sailor Moon. If she watched anything from the 60s, it was cartoons or anime

It would depend on the country. When I was a kid in the 1990s, most of what I watched on TV was from the 1980s (Dallas, The A-Team, Remington Steele, Magnum PI, Knight Rider, etc.)

When Zemo shows up again in FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER I want him to make references to Miami Vice and Magnum PI.
