I don't care for Tarantino's films on a number of levels, so let's not get into this argument because it's a distraction from the original point. Conflating "media about bad people" with "media that glorifies/promotes bad people" is disingenuous.

Are you aware AR was 23, had just escaped from the Soviet Union and was starving and alone in Hollywood when she made those entries in her private journals as a character study for a book she never wrote? I’d be shocked if someone in that situation didn’t have a few dark thoughts

My best friend died of a heroin overdose when I was 23. I went through a very dark period after that. Lots of dark thoughts. Lots of condemnation of the world that caused a beautiful soul to (probably) kill himself. Does that make me evil?

I'm very sorry for your loss, and I hope you're in a better place now. I find it curious that you perceived a societal component to your friend's addiction and death but still cleave to a Randian notion of individualism.

I think if he had been more individualistic he wouldn’t have been so susceptible to the pressures society placed on him. He was unusually intelligent and physically beautiful. Everybody wanted something from him. He gave and gave until he had nothing left. That is my evaluation.

There were literally hundreds of people at his funeral. I left half way though the service because all I could think was “This was your fault. You all caused this.” I have still never spoken a word to any of them, including his parents. Because they fucking murdered Miracle.

Then I won't continue this conversation any longer. Again, you have my condolences.

Don’t need your condolences. But this was a very strong validation of ARs argument that society destroys the best of us and then destroys them for being destroyed. That must be resisted at all costs. I know that wasn’t your intention, but thanks anyway.

Yeah so it's a tragedy your friend died of OD because in your opinion he was smart and good-looking and interesting and therefore a victim of the parasites If he'd ODed while being ugly and dumb and boring, on the other hand, he'd have been one of those parasites Fuck off

Not necessarily. But fat, ugly people seem to do very well in this society. Present company included. I think it has to do with pity, which is the opposite of envy. No need to tear you down when you are already a piece of shit, right?

Lol yup here comes the incredible galaxy brain bullshit "It's the popular kids who are actually unpopular, when you think about it" The whole mindset behind the 2018 Heathers reboot etc

Yeah. Honestly, it's most of it, I think - it's really exciting when something counterintuitive turns out to be true. But you chase that forever and end up knowing nothing.

Well, it’s the precocious youth who suffer the most, thanks to the adoption of John Dewey’s educational theories in the first half of the last century. Read up on that if you dare.
