So something I'm going to mention. D&D orcs are coded as PoC Savages because D&D was written by a very conservative racist guy deliberately trying to mimic the (very racist) clash-of-civilization-vs-barbarism dynamic of Conan. Tolkien orcs are *abberrations* in D&D terms.

Nobody ever forgets their origin, Arthur. That's pretty explicit! (Hell, they're arguably led by *demons* in both cases, in fact!) But they're also still driven by this *elemental*, supernatural hostility to the natural world itself.

And as even the Hobbit points out, far from being "primitive," the goblins of the Misty Mountains are not barbarians - they're extremely clever and very mechanically gifted, and are probably responsible for a number of prototypes of modern weapons.
