Okay news flash - there is no possible way brunch is "worse" than happy hour, or the 1 am closing shift at a bar/nightclub, or working a 24-hr fast food drive thru right after the bars close The "brunch" thing is a stupid meme kept alive largely by sexist stereotypeshttps://twitter.com/jacobinmag/status/1353371986932756480 …

This is actually a serious real thing that's been proposed and pushed forward in other countries, as an alliance of labor with social conservatives Jacobin's audience wouldn't support it in a million fucking years though so they don't even mention it

I love this idea and hate it at the same time. It would take some adjustment but it would be worth it

i'm really wary of the idea of legislation that could criminalize public night-life, but night / 3rd-shift work can be so devastating to workers' ability to participate in the world that i can't be against the notion before considering specific policy implications.

There are people who THRIVE working off shifts but they don’t get the compensation they need. And there are other people who need to be able to find food at those hours. I definitely need to see the specific policy, but I’m open to it. There’s always a middle road.
