I still think the Cobra Kai philosophy makes more sense if you strip the toxic masculinity (which the show slowly does) than the Miyagi-do philosophy. Life has screwed me over and over again and I'm not ready to play by the rules and let it keep screwing me

Somewhat dependent on the exact competition, IE in MMA exploiting such a weakness wouldn't just be acceptable, you'd be considered stupid not to. But then MMA is supposed to be more like "real" fighting. The tournament in the Karate Kid seems to be an edge case.

Having had a smidge of experience with MMA fighters who train in a certain Dublin gym and like to start fights in bars... it's not at all real.

It's extra weird because it required two people to cheat in a row, and if it hadn't been successful on the first attempt wouldn't he have been disqualified anyway?
