I still think the Cobra Kai philosophy makes more sense if you strip the toxic masculinity (which the show slowly does) than the Miyagi-do philosophy. Life has screwed me over and over again and I'm not ready to play by the rules and let it keep screwing me

Does Miyagi-do play by the rules? Granted I haven't watched the series, but as presented in the movies that's not really the vibe I got from it. Miyagi himself seems very much a "follow your own path" kind of guy.

They're hypocrites, like the Jedi, but they say they play by the rules

As I've pointed out many times, a head kick is enormously dangerous and sweeping the leg is a simple judo move I know IRL and can still use after almost 15 years, but it's all about optics I guess

Anyway the show's Miyagi-do is really Danny Larusso style, it's his view of Mr. Miyagi's teachings after decades

That's why I'm not super interested in the show. Daniel's style in the minds of people who IMO make Daniel out to be a lot worse than he ever actually was. I'd have preferred Daniel act more Miyagi and the show focused pretty much entirely on Johnny realizing what a dick he was.

I mean you get both. Danny is very much a TLJ Luke Skywalker character plus a wife and daughter

If they bring in an as of yet unmentioned former student of Daniel's that went bad and like ended up in prison or something that would probably get me interested.

I mean, Macchio had said he'd been offered the chance to do a sequel "played straight" that's just about Danny being the new Mr Miyagi and rejected it because it was corny and had no reason to be made
