Idk it's just, understanding how chemistry works is valuable if only so you get how "Why don't they make a completely *safe* household cleaner" is a stupid question It's like asking "Why don't they make a knife that ONLY cuts FOOD and doesn't cut PEOPLE"

Anyway they put a big warning thing on the bleach bottle over and over again "DON'T MIX THIS WITH ANYTHING ELSE" but someone working in a kitchen still dies of this shit somewhere every six months

I have definitely encountered people who had that reaction to me giving them simple and well documented consumer safety warnings.

Good time to remind everyone that binary explosives are legal to buy, sell, and ship in the United States. They just sell you a couple of components, you put it together yourself, and you have own explosives now. Like Tannerite.

I was told that the rubber on a big transformers' cables is there to prevent the electricity from arching to nearby things. I was told that if you touch those cables you are fucked. I was told that after I touched the cables. Thankfully the transformer was turned off.

I've done chlorine bleach and vinegar in front of children. At least I had the presence of mind to get it the freak away from everyone.

When I was a young teenager my neighbor and I went into the backyard and mixed chlorine bleach and ammonia. We had read about WW1 and formed some vague idea of understanding Chlorine gas. Not one of our best ideas. Gunpowder was a lot more fun.
