Yeah I hate takes that say because fake bullshit is something women are pressured into more than men, men are obligated to do fake bullshit out of solidarity Also relabeling fake bullshit as "emotional labor", a term that is therefore rapidly jumping the sharkhttps://twitter.com/della_morte_/status/1352691754605178885 …

I agree we should be as clear with our language as possible. I also think having clear, popular terms to describe something helps to drive discourse, organizing, and progress on a movement. If we are gonna say the emotional nature of sexism isn't "labor" we should offer an alt.

I think this entire line of enquiry is a diversion from the real point. Why not ask society to allow women to just turn up and be comfortable? Why pressure everyone to do a thing we agree is bad?

The emotions aren't invalid. In fact, acknowledging feelings of double standardship and the burden of excess expectations is the first step to dismantling the system (the correct response, not just equal opportunity oppression). It just shouldn't be called 'emotional labor'.

Amelia Green just needs to do some more analysis and actually realize the root cause of what makes her feel the way she feels. And it's not Bernie himself.
