Newsflash: Dropping in a dead Greeks and deflecting into some weird discussion about the lives of chickens to avoid the key point made - aint standing up AT ALL.

TERFs are unfamiliar either with the lyrics of classic Disney movie songs or with philosophy 101 anecdotes about Diogenes laying out the fundamental problem with natural kinds I wonder if there's any form of culture they are familiar with

They haven't even actually seen any of the stuff they quote all the time They haven't actually read The Handmaid's Tale, they haven't read 1984, they haven't seen the Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic On the Basis of Sex, they haven't even read Harry Potter

the 1984 one is the most annoying because they call it newspeak when people use nuanced and inclusive language when the whole point of newspeak was to make that impossible.

If I remember right that wasn't even subtext I'm pretty sure something like that was explicitly in the book

Yes, the purpose of Newspeak was to reduce the English vocabulary as much as possible, to the point where you were only allowed to use technical jargon if you had an essential job that required it

"Making up new words" is the exact opposite of Newspeak -- the primary criterion for approving a word to go into the Newspeak dictionary is it has to be an extremely simple, common English word everyone already knows

How you know not only have these people NOT read 1984, they haven't even read the Cliff's Notes: They get the most basic concepts in the book 100% backwards
