the 1984 one is the most annoying because they call it newspeak when people use nuanced and inclusive language when the whole point of newspeak was to make that impossible.

Yes, the purpose of Newspeak was to reduce the English vocabulary as much as possible, to the point where you were only allowed to use technical jargon if you had an essential job that required it

"Making up new words" is the exact opposite of Newspeak -- the primary criterion for approving a word to go into the Newspeak dictionary is it has to be an extremely simple, common English word everyone already knows
