There's so few good ones that haven't actually been done already How about a Ninja Turtles prequel called SPLINTER, exploring Splinter's origin story before he became an anthro rat (and igniting fandom war over whether he started as a rat or a human)https://twitter.com/mightygodking/status/1351595467575091203 …

Goodness sakes, there is no controversy. He clearly started as human. If he didn’t, I’m so owing my son apologies.

It varies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splinter_(Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles) … Original comic and live-action film adaptation: he was a pet rat of a human named Hamato Yoshi. 1987 cartoon: he was a human named Hamato Yoshi. Other canons: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's weird the kids cartoon had the way more tragic version of him being once human.

I guess, though it's pretty tragic that a pet rat's main formative memory before developing sentience is the trauma of witnessing Yoshi's murder. Like, imagine intimately knowing murder and loss before you've spoken your first word.

Yeah I think that perversely the kids cartoon had him be a transformed human because that was "less violent" than the backstory where he watches his master die
