This is a minor thing in the grand scheme of things I guess but every Asian-American community org 10 years ago that accepted funding or co-branding or just giving space and a platform to Falun Gong's fronts (NTD TV, Epoch Times, Shen Yun) helped ruin the world

I had no idea. Wow. Part of me thinks I need to look this up and part of me thinks I don't need to know more and just won't buy tix bc the world is a lot right now.

My dad got my mom tix to Shen Yun a cpl yrs ago for her bday. She had no interest, so gave me & a friend her tix. It was...VERY CLEARLY propaganda even on its face. And then I read more about it. It's pretty nuts. (not to say that SOME of their beef w/Chinese gov't isn't legit!)

This explains so much. I tend to pay attention to a fair amount of what goes on with performing arts in my city, but I was always baffled by how much Shen Yun publicity I'd see--totally out of scale with its presence in performance communities. I knew something was off about it.

right? like why does every single store have a poster? that's so weird. but after a while you're like, well, obviously it's huge, the posters are everywhere. And they're a named sponsor on my PBS station (I realize the koch bros. are too) but those 2 things together. fascinating
