Totally get a Blue Velvet vibe from that darkness beneath suburbia vibe. Obvs not to the same extent.

In all seriousness, this kind of arbitrary distinction between “highbrow art” and “lowbrow pablum” always fucking kills me. Twin Peaks was a network TV show ffs! There is nothing more commercially driven and historically craven than network television.

I'd say it's an exaggeration at the very least. Not every weird story set in the suburbs is Lynchian. (I also think it's a description that will feel less and less apt as the show begins to solve itself.)
-
I don’t think it’s Lynchian because ultimately there’ll be an explanation.

Isn't one of the reasons Marvel has been so successful is that they release a Spy film, or an action adventure film, or a lynchian tv series, that happens to have superheroes in it?
