I know this is only going to bother me but the Second Lady is called the Second Lady because there’s a First Lady (the wife of the president.) if there’s no First Gentleman it shouldn’t need to be a Second Gentleman.

Like if, say, the President's wife actually hates him and the job and everything about D.C., so he has his daughter assume many of the official functions of the First Lady. Like, hypothetically.

There was one bachelor president, and I believe he had a cousin or a niece who served as First Lady in the social/hostess sense.
