We do, actually, have the distinction vestigially. It's why we sometimes talk about "trial lawyers" (barristers). The US also also has both an Attorney General and a Solicitor General, who have different jobs.

We look kinda have that too. Litigators and Transactional Attorneys. It’s just not formal so they can do both. But woe be you if you have a transactional lawyer show up in court for you.
