I was in high school in Oklahoma when the bombing happened in OKC and 9/11 still felt like a reality shift when it happened.

My tech ed teacher had a TSA thing in OKC that day. He said he was at least 6 blocks away and the blast knocked him and the whole group of students down And then 9/11 happened while going to that same school and my 16 yr old ass was hooking the school up with paperclip antennas

Also, I think a lot of folks have forgotten just how crazy the time around 9/11 was. The anthrax attacks. The shoe bomber. DC Sniper in 2002. The Smiley Face bomber. It was a crazy time.
-
I lived through all of those and literally forgot the Smiley Face bomber was a thing

I was supposed to be down there for the farmers market they had in front. Overslept because my infant son screamed his head off until 3 in the morning.

The fall of the Berlin Wall meant more to my parents than it did to me, Munich went completely over my head, Mandela getting out was a big deal, but Columbine was raw and really close to home, especially learning years later that they weren’t outcasts, just a jock and his flunky.

Funny you mention 9/11... wonder what the Patriot Act 2.0 crackdown will look like and how many people will beg for it this time
