So a thing that is genuinely bugging me about Hades is the decision to refer to Hades as hell in places.

Portions of the New Testament that refer to Hell are just translating "Hades" though (The other references are referring to "the trash" essentially. Extremely misleading millenia long translation. Like Jesus is going to "toss sinners in the fire" bc *they burned trash*)

Sure, but Christianity isn't relevent to the game? Especially since it's used to refer to only parts of the game world, and Hades is everything in the underworld, including Tartarus. Mistranslation or not, the Christian hell is very different from Hades, Dante aside.

Right but the Christian hell is sort of a made up word that can mean anything, since the basis for how people imagine it isn't theological but rather based on an inc*l's fanfic about his dead crush

I would argue that the word "hell" predates Christianity (it's from "Hel" in Norse mythology, which is a lot closer to the Greek Hades than the Christian Hell) and doesn't have to mean what Christians mean by it

I'm gonna be honest, the fact that my original gripe with the subtext 'I'm annoyed that Christianity language continues to happen even in things that are about something else ostensibly" has spawned multiple subthreads justifying it via Christianity existing.
