The way I've heard it put is that the "lifeline" cannot go all the way to where they are It can be there, but they have to make the choice to let go of the sinking ship and swim over to grasp it You cannot let the lifeline attach you to the sinking ship itselfhttps://twitter.com/AnaMardoll/status/1347612673920430081 …

At some point someone sinks so far into their insanity that they're not your friend anymore. They're not that person you came to care about. They're a stranger you need to cut loose. The trick is realising when it's happened.

I met my best friend at the church we both attended in 1996. For 20 yrs, our friendship grew, even after i rejected Christianity, until in 2016 Trump got the Republican nomination. He became a full-Trumper. He started calling himself a Deplorable. We haven t spoken since 2017.

My problem is when I didn't know. Obvious people--Trump supporters who hate me on principle, that friend several years ago who sneered at all the "Koverage" of Kaepernick on "Kaos"...those are easy. 1/

Spoke with a friend yesterday about the DC events and everything was going fine, mass commiseration, and then he said, "Well, sometimes bad things happen to good people" and went off on socialism and Antifa. Oh, dude. You were SO close.
