I've looked at the studies and the tl;dr version is this: most people spanked as kids will be just fine. Some kids, however, will have significantly increased risk factors due to it. Meaning, not worth the risk.

And as a parent, I can attest: if the kid is too young to reason & you are close enough to hit, you are also close enough to remove them from harms way. If they can reason, you can reason with them. Hitting is never the answer. My way takes a hell of a lot more work & time though

100% agree, and there is a direct connection between kids getting beaten up all the time and almost every person in prison for a violent crime. It's how they learned to address interpersonal problems with violence.
