If I get drunk and throw a Molotov cocktali at someone's house and burn it down and the homeowner says "Hey, good news! This place was an unsellable dump and now I can collect on the insurance! You did me a favor!" it doesn't mean I did something morally acceptable

Nobody actually thinks this is okay, if you say that this is what happened in so many words That's why nobody DOES say it in so many words They keep the words vague "Obviously the Church cannot and must not tolerate abuse, but we believe strongly in corporal punishment"

My parents made us wait a literal hour (only happened twice) and I thought it was to amp up the fear and when I grew up I realized it was so it wouldn’t be in anger.
