We are all taking the easy way out, unless you hunted and gathered your own food (and even then you're just taking advantage of the bounty of Mother Earth that fell into your lap, you didn't create the ecosystem you were born into)

The "they've got to learn what the world is like sometime" logic always reminds me of Monty Python's being-hit-on-the-head lessons. Somebody might hit them on the head in the future; they've got to be ready so better hit them on the head repeatedly now!
