more WW84 commentary: it's interesting how they've sanded down the paganism in WW's mythology, presumably to appease some executive's concerns about "offending christians" so, diana refers to "my father," not zeus; steve refers to being "in a good place," not the elysian fields

the evil god isn't any specific greek god, but rather "the prince of lies who goes by many names" and the movie closes with a macy's-christmas-commercial scene of diana strolling around, receiving a small christmas miracle

in other words, WW84 sort of leans into a winking christianity, in which nobody is allowed to say "satan" or "heaven" but can clearly refer to them obliquely a sort of middle-of-the-road designed-by-committee approach to a character WHO IS LITERALLY THE DAUGHTER OF ZEUS

honestly i find movies that can just admit that certain characters are christian far more tolerable than movies where everyone is required to pretend that what is obviously an implicit christianity is somehow nondenominational

Tbf Steve didn't worship the Greek gods so it'd be a little weird for him to end up in their afterlife

this assumes that one's afterlife is determined by which gods one worships, which is not something we can take as given imo

Hey maybe souls aren't discrete and you get a Steve going to every afterlife.
