This is why even an infection that's "only" like a really bad flu is nothing to sneeze at (so to speak) COVID would be a big problem even if it really was just a hyper-contagious flu we had no flu shot for, never mind lasting longer and being more intense

Yikes. Based on the (small sample size) ratio in the article we should expect about 44,000 new onset psychosis cases in the US just based on current cumulative hospitalization numbers. I would expect that to double by the end of this. We already don’t have enough IPSYCH beds.
