I just saw an ad for a FAANG index fund. Why would you invest in that, several of those companies are direct competitors and it's not large enough to be a real index fund

It just seems like you could easily be your own "hedge fund manager" with a fund as small as that. You just do what you say, set alerts for price changes and sell/buy as appropriate.

I mean I see job postings for analytics jobs assisting hedge funds and the way they describe it does not honestly sound like it's deeply sophisticated math being done even in the big funds
