I just saw an ad for a FAANG index fund. Why would you invest in that, several of those companies are direct competitors and it's not large enough to be a real index fund

The whole thing with a normal index fund too is people worry they're too heavily weighted toward big companies and don't have enough potential upside (a pure total stock market fund will have a ton of its money in Google anyway)

So people set up small-cap weighted funds to try to balance that out, and this is the opposite of that
