People are always telling me my angst about aging is rooted in media obsessing over and overvaluing youth, but I have to ask: why do you think media does that? Is it just random? Or is it, maybe, that being young is in fact happier and better and more interesting?

The reason for the whole "Millennials Kill..." meme that drove people into a panic is that millennials didn't move into the "next life phase" when they were supposed to so it turned out trying to get us to build loyalty to stuff like fabric softener was a huge waste of time

Yeah if you’ve bought the same brand for 20 years you need something big to change your mind. If you’re just starting buying a certain product and have no brand loyalty or much knowledge of the brands then advertisements can potentially sway you.
