Kind of a weird feeling to wait for a suicide bomber's ethnicity to come out so we can know whether it'll be the inciting incident of years of persecution or just be a random story everyone forgets about by next year

I can never decide if that gives me hope or not. It makes the problem sound manageable.

Living just an hour north of there, I'm constantly reminded of that. Keeps me on edge thinking anyone could snap, especially in this unstable time.

So many ridiculous edgelords with "ai don't trust people" takes, and yet you have to remind them that they leave their house and walk past people every day who could shank them for no reason, but it never happens because ultimately people mostly just want to be left alone.

As a not-young Londoner I am only too aware of the risk of bombings. Just as well the Good Friday Agreement put an end to that sort of thing, and that it's not at risk by anything, right?

I'm wondering about this special forces guy who shot up a bowling alley in Illinois - if it was, as it seems to be, a racist murder of 3, wounding 3 others, we'll probably never heard anything more about it.https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/27/us/Rockford-shooting-bowling-alley.html …

Correct we should have some degree of trust that we all aren't going to start killing each other. Otherwise, we would have been extinct a few thousand years ago. Human nature for the most part is to be good to one another.
