Kermit as Nick, Piggy as Jordan, The Great Gonzo as The Great Gatsby, I've literally been saying this for yearshttps://twitter.com/hwhittenwrites/status/1342516613782904833 …

Ok but if Gonzo is Gatsby then does Daisy have to be a chicken? And what live actor would play Tom?

It depends on what direction you want to take it Pure farce, yes, Daisy is a chicken and a non-speaking role Going the Muppet Christmas Carol route you get an Oscar-nominated actress to play her

Thematically you'd either need Nick or Gatsby as the human actor as they are the outsiders trying to understand and exist in a world of wealth and privilege. I would make Daisy Piggy and Janice Jordan.

I actually strongly disagree with this (especially casting Jordan as anyone but Piggy, Jordan and Nick's relationship is the original Piggy and Kermit slap-slap-kiss thing) Nick's final long monologue in the book is him saying he and Gatsby weren't that different in the end

That he himself was just one of a whole cohort of Midwestern boys who came to New York to try to pretend to be something they weren't, and he's leaving now because the whole sordid business with Gatsby soured him on the pretense

He points out that *everyone* in the story -- Tom, Daisy, Jordan, himself and Gatsby -- is a transplant who came to NY to try to become something different from who they originally were, to varying degrees So *everyone* is, in a sense, a human hiding behind a puppet

But yeah, if you have to have one human main character then it should be Tom, and if you're allowed to have two it should be Tom and Daisy The whole idea is Nick, Jordan and Gatsby represent nouveau riche West Egg and Tom and Daisy live in the old-money East Egg

I seriously do think this would be kind of deep if you played it straight The "beautiful elite" are the real humans in the show, everyone else is a Muppet aspiring to be like them And yet Tom and Daisy are also the shallowest, cruelest ones in the show
