But, less interesting & more disconcerting is the overwhelming focus on her personal suffering for antifascist work she undertakes voluntarily as compared to the trauma of Jewish people at being oppressed & murdered.

It's not about relative levels of suffering or about the roots of that suffering it's about *blaming her* for something someone did *because he also victimized her* Fuck's sake you're like hovering this close to a "Who cares, she was asking for it" take

Okay... I'm not sure how many ways I can say this without worrying you're reacting emotionally instead of reading what I'm typing, but... we know she's not responsible for the shooting. We're pissed she's using it as a prop for her own feelings.

Who is "we" The people in the pile-on were very much not aware of that, and if you don't share that opinion, then they and you are not part of any "we" here

We = Jewish people on Twitter talking about why we don't like people using our trauma. You = non-Jewish person on Twitter not listening to Jews about why that's problematic.

The specific event that happened, which I witnessed with my own two eyes, was a specific group of people attacking this person saying she should be deplatformed and driven out of leftist organizing spaces, because she was partially responsible for the Tree of Life shooting

The reason this "blew up" is that bystanders who saw it, reasonably, considered this a shocking and damning accusation, to the point of proposing criminal charges -- since the pileon led to people assuming she had prior knowledge of the attack she withheld from law enforcement

That's not the reason this "blew up." It blew up because when we started talking about the real reason that old thread was problematic, a bunch of fanboys started harassing Jews across Twitter with virulent antisemitism & violent imagery.

Okay, well, bringing up other problems you have with someone when they're fending off a major potentially life-ruining libelous accusation is not a great thing to do, in my opinion

You mean bringing up problems directly related to the tweet that was being discussed & then fending off attacks by alleged antifascists against my fellow Jews? Because no one was ruining Conger's life, but more Jews have been made less safe because of her & her supporters.

Yeah okay I've heard the "You'll be okay, you have 40,000 followers, you're untouchable" line over and over again Maybe it makes me the asshole here but I'm never going to buy it and it's never going to make me take your side
