The tweet was deleted shortly, and the response to the tweet being deleted was "She's erasing evidence of her complicity!", when if the issue was just that the tweet itself was offensive that should've been the end of it

So yeah no I'm not going to sit back and accept that what happened to her was at all okay, or accept a framing that this is about "protecting white women" like she wasn't personally threatened and put in fear by the shooter

It's interesting how you see this issue as a retcon given that Jwitter has known about that thread for a couple of years now & knew it was problematic. Also, deleting the tweet is nice & all (albeit belated) but it doesn't end the antisemitic harassment of Jews by her fans.

But, less interesting & more disconcerting is the overwhelming focus on her personal suffering for antifascist work she undertakes voluntarily as compared to the trauma of Jewish people at being oppressed & murdered.

It's not about relative levels of suffering or about the roots of that suffering it's about *blaming her* for something someone did *because he also victimized her* Fuck's sake you're like hovering this close to a "Who cares, she was asking for it" take

Okay... I'm not sure how many ways I can say this without worrying you're reacting emotionally instead of reading what I'm typing, but... we know she's not responsible for the shooting. We're pissed she's using it as a prop for her own feelings.

Who is "we" The people in the pile-on were very much not aware of that, and if you don't share that opinion, then they and you are not part of any "we" here

We = Jewish people on Twitter talking about why we don't like people using our trauma. You = non-Jewish person on Twitter not listening to Jews about why that's problematic.

The specific event that happened, which I witnessed with my own two eyes, was a specific group of people attacking this person saying she should be deplatformed and driven out of leftist organizing spaces, because she was partially responsible for the Tree of Life shooting

You mean a single teenager who logged off for Shabbat? There aren't a lot of Jews in the world, but we're still a fairly large community on here.

Her and the people who shared her thread with that framing and built on those accusations to turn it into a wild rumor, yes Many of whom were not, in fact, Jewish and just people in that person's Twitter circle
