Yeah look I'm just gonna say they didn't have to make it so Steve was nonconsensually bodyjacking some random stranger the whole time, but they did, and then they just let us sit with this fact without ever actually dealing with ithttps://twitter.com/mangiotto/status/1342716687410319361 …

Imagine if after the wish is undone and Steve's soul departs along with the glamour that made Diana see him as Steve it turns out she's spent this whole time dating you

I think the mirror scene is meant to imply there's no actual glamour effect, his actual physical appearance is entirely otherdude, it's just that he has to look like Chris Pine because otherwise what are they paying him for so they came up with a half baked explanation.

Yeah I guess it could just be a cinematic way of saying she imagines him as Steve

I almost feel like *not* doing it, and just having him be another actor for the whole movie would have made it a better movie. They don't even look that different. Maybe Chris's contract didn't let them or something.

or the studio simply insisted on having their Chris star in the movie again, whether it makes sense or not

I feel like the demand to have Steve come back somehow came first and the problematic mechanism chosen for this came after

They didn't have to do that What exactly about the movie except for, like, two scenes, would have been different if he'd just magically appeared in front of her with some kind of light show?

It really feels like the original idea was that the "terrible cost" of bringing him back was the moral cost of stealing another man's life and she had to wrestle with overcoming her selfish desires to do the right thing

But I guess they didn't like that so they put in this nonsense about losing her powers because of it instead But they couldn't get rid of the possession thing because they'd shot too much footage to trash it all

That makes sense. And it seems to fit the theme almost realized. Diana couldn't win by cheating... it's stealing victory. Can't bring back the dead without stealing another's life. Even wishing for a coffee was just taking coffee from someone else.

so, looks like there maybe was a decent story there buried under multiple rewrites and reshoots
