True, although I think in this case 'Chub' is meant to be some sort of mystery meat type thing, similar to SPAM

"Chub" was, for a long time anyway, a generic term for a kind of really basic low-quality hamburger meat that came in a plastic tube

Yeah but Homer specifically thinks SLH's "snouts and entrails" count as meat and the chub doesn't

It LOOKS like they're just eating salad and "chub night" is a slang term for going meatless (making Homer's "I don't even know what chub is" into an actual joke) but I've never heard the term outside this episodepic.twitter.com/GlNUi5QEbE

When I was a kid 'Chub' was a kind of dog food that was sold in the form of plastic-wrapped sausage-meat-esque blend of offcuts & offal, so it sounds like an even lower grade of the sausage described by some commenters in this thread. It still exists!: https://www.rawpawspetfood.com/1-pound-chubs-s/811.htm …

But wouldn't that mean they're eating the same stuff as SLH, not worse stuff than SLH Why is Homer jealous of SLH "getting meat when we don't" in this scene

Mate, this is about people eating either dog food, or human food that's so bad that it's hard to tell it from dog food. That's the punchline right there - I don't think it needs any more analysis than that.

As Tim & Jay said, the joke's right there.

Yeah, I think the joke is Homer considers the dog food to have more meat in it than whatever Chub is (and to be fair, he's probably right!)

I mean, that depends on how you define 'meat' - do stomach linings & testicles count? - but yeah, he probably is.
