I'm not sure I agree that the $600 feels like someone leaving a penny as a tip as an insult What it feels like is Mom going "You're not really going to send him to bed with *no dinner at all* are you?" and Dad going "Fine, he gets one slice of bread, that's it" and Mom does it

Sorry for some of us the whole experience of being able to see and hear people, like, debating and litigating and negotiating exactly how much they're allowed to abuse you is... kind of visceral

It seems unfair to say Democrats are enabling it. I think a person can quibble on the brass tacks of the negotiating strategy, but I'm not sure how much Democrats can do to block it. They tried to hold out for a better deal for months, but the clock has run out on that tactic.

Obviously, they actually passed a better bill that Republicans refused to even look at so it's actually more complex and worse than just "they tried to hold out."
