Thinking out loud, when has a movement made up predominantly of middle aged women, most of whom are mothers, ever been on the “wrong side” of child protection and safeguarding? Ever?

Hard to overstate the wrongheadedness of that original post. The premise/assumption -- that anything characterized by middle-aged women as "for the children" is instrinsically good and beyond reproach - is widely held AND ridiculous on its face.
