I mean it's problematic because it's so real

It coded things in that are ugly trying to create dramatic stakes, which happens a lot. Counterpoint: being nowhere as a kid and wondering how the fuck are *you* ever gonna claw your way out of this.

Everyone has their own particular damage I guess the only way you can sell Eugene's damage of being born rich and privileged as being as bad as Vincent's damage of being worthless trash is for Eugene to literally set himself on fire

I mean, the only villains in the story are Vincent’s parents IMO, for being loser hippies who denied their kid medical treatment I might have some investment in that

There's no treatment to genetically engineer a fetus after it's been conceived in this world, that's a big part of the premise (there's no way to "fix" him), all they have is IVF plus genetic screening (which isn't that far away irl)

So the only way to "treat" Vincent would've been to abort him and have another kid when they were ready ...And, I mean, since they *did* have another kid when they were ready, Anton, that other timeline is just a timeline where Vincent just plain doesn't exist

(I've been down this rabbithole of intrusive thoughts a bunch before "In the world where you were replaced with a better version of you, you'd just be this other person who already exists The better world is just this world minus the existing you")

Which brings us back to Brad Pitt existing in a world where *I* exist. Lol.

I mean Brad Pitt has a lousy relationship with his son and apparently hit him once, which is the big scandal hanging over his head right now that he went to some lengths to get out from under So, you know, the grass is always greener

So does Bradley Cooper count for this discussion or are we back to that "assuming a name is short for another name" thing?

Well lol Brad Pitt isn't even really a Brad at all, he's a William He didn't start going by his middle name until he joined SAG

I think like there's at least a 50% chance that *someone* involved in William Bradley Pitt making the decision to get his SAG card as "Brad Pitt" wanted to avoid British history jokes about "Pitt the Elder" and "Pitt the Younger"

"The Youngest" would have been amusing though.
